In, "Where's Chuckawalla Bill's Cabin?", Kevin Heaton recounts the harrowing details of attempting to survive the countless perils of the California Hi-Desert Wilderness. His poetic prose, and artful use of metaphor bring each arduous step of this eventful journey brilliantly to life for every reader. Heaton is not likely to make it, but you find yourself cheering for him that he does!

Author's Notes
Three years had passed since the actual experience of becoming lost on my ill-conceived day hike. Many of those who knew of it had, at one time or another, urged me to jot down the account. I had given it some thought, but had always resisted until now, partly due to the fact that I had already done a considerable amount of writing in the past, and no longer felt a great deal of urgency to do more. In addition, (and probably the more accurate reason) the whole dang thing was rather embarrassing! But, when my lovely wife, Charlotte, impressed upon me that this story needed to be told, I knew she was right.
