A dying Earth is invaded by alien hunters in search of a saviour, and an age-old prophecy predicts a golden child who will save a galactic empire. Rayne’s guide is a mysterious black ship, and the Shrike, a masked outlaw, is her guardian. Others wish to kill her and prevent the prophecy from being fulfilled. In the midst of two great empires’ troubles, only the Shrike has the power to save or destroy her.
