Passport to Happiness is a romance, but much more than that. It starts off with Jessica as a young girl living in a small town being raised by a single parent. She dreams through reading books, and looking at pictures of faraway places. As she grows into a young woman, she is more determined to leave behind the boredom of the town, and the dark secrets that it holds. She gets her wish and joins the State Department's career program and begins her new life in new and exotic places. Along the way she learns different cultures, and develops lifelong friendships. Passport to Happiness is a feel good story, but it has it's moments of uncertainty - like real life.
If you've read any of Ms. White's books, you'll know she re-introduces her readers to characters from her other two books, The Salty Dog and The Pet Palace. Although they do not have to be read in order, Passport was her second book.
