Book Description

Logophilia is a love letter to language and to the deeply-human urge to name what resists naming. In this Voyage of Verses Award-winning poetry collection by Cecilia Jeffers, words are drawn from dictionary, myth, memory, and silence itself. Each poem begins with a word yet refuses to be confined, allowing for the ancient to coexist with the immediate. Across themes of memory, longing, faith, grief, and joy, Jeffers treats language not as ornament but a living force — capable of wounding, healing, and carrying meaning where silence once reigned.

Intimate without being insular and lyrical without excess, Logophilia invites readers into a space between private reflection and shared recognition. Here, words become bridges and doorways into meaning, memory, and the soul, drawing readers in even as Jeffers seeks to understand the world on her own.

Author's Notes

I write this book to help me decipher what this wild world has to offer. Drawing from my childhood scribblings through to reflections of recent events and even my favorite musicians and lyricists, I wanted to contemplate, to consider my life and life in general through a more...philosophic (at times) and introspective (at others) lens.

I published Logophilia in August of 2025, and this year, 2026, my big goal is to get it out into the world. Whether it's read and reviewed, glanced at in passing, or remembered just enough to be a recommendation, I believe Logophilia can go just far enough, if not a little bit farther.
