"From Shelter To Service Dog - A Practical Guide To Behavioral Rehabilitation" is a comprehensive manual for addressing all levels of behavioral issues in dogs including puppy socialization and development, hyper-activity, fear, destruction, aggression, house-training and others. This approach is the culmination of years of working with dogs with severe issues. It is the core text of all of our behavioral rehabilitation training, as well as our Service Dog and Therapy Dog programs. As trainers working with behavioral problems, we don't focus on stopping negative behaviors. Our goal with every dog we work with is for them to be calm, focused and agreeable. No matter what problem you start with, if you can get a dog genuinely calm, focused on the handler instead of the environment and agreeable to instruction then no problem will be difficult to address. If you can't achieve this then nothing is getting fixed at all.
This book is the approach we have developed for achieving this goal. We have successfully applied this approach to all levels of issues, and have developed programs for no-kill shelters that allow for stabilizing behavior in facilities. We have also developed a Service Dog training program based on this method that allows for dogs to be taken from rescues, placed with disabled individuals and trained as service dogs. "From Shelter To Service Dog - A Practical Guide To Behavioral Rehabilitation" is the core text of all of our training programs. We are proud to be able to make this information available to a wider audience.
