Biography

Ditta Sylvester was born in Jamaica where she worked as a school teacher. As she composed reading materials for her students, Ditta began writing short fiction, the first of which was published in the local Sunday Gleaner on Fathers' Day, 2003. Many more short stories were published, earning her outstanding reviews and awards. In 2009 "Puss Food and other Jamaican Stories",a collection, was published. "Shameful Shadows", Ditta's coming-of-age novella, came shortly after.

Though mostly set in Jamaica, the themes in these stories are international - child abuse, strength and courage In The Lover ("Puss Food...Stories"), love, H.I.V., compassion and redemption (in "Shameful Shadows").

In 2017, Ditta migrated to Florida where she wrote "The Wrong Girl and Stephen's mother" - a romantic thriller and her third book. She still lives in Jacksonville.
